Super-fine silver mainly kills single-celled organisms. Nano-silver combines with its oxygen metabolic enzymes to inactivate the enzymes and suffocate the pathogenic bacteria. Multicellular bodies do not use proteases for respiration.

Silver itself has very little toxicity to the human body, even when nano-silver is taken internally as a drug, because the silver content is small (one thousandth of the tolerated dose), it has little effect on the human body.
