Description:

As a carbon material with high conductivity and high specific surface area, carbon nanotubes can improve the particle and distribution of active materials, improve the charge and discharge acceptability of electrodes, increase battery discharge capacity and cycle performance.

The effect of adding different contents of carbon nanotubes (CNT) and carbon black on the electrochemical performance of the negative plate of lead-acid battery was studied. Adding an appropriate amount of CNTs can increase the internal pore volume of the negative electrode, improve the particle morphology of the active material, make the particle size more uniform, and improve the electrochemical reaction kinetic performance. When 0.5% CNT was added, the first discharge capacity at 1 C was increased by 3%, and the life of the electrode plate at 2C and 60s discharge cycle was nearly doubled. The effects of different types and contents of carbon nanotubes added to the negative electrode of lead-acid battery on the surface morphology of the electrode plate and the performance of the battery were experimentally studied.

Experiments show that carbon nanotubes can promote the uniform distribution of active materials and form an effective three-dimensional conductive network; carbon nanotubes can improve battery performance, and the initial capacity of the battery can be increased by up to 6.8%. The capacity can be increased at most at low temperature -15 °C 20.7%. It can effectively improve the capacity retention rate of the battery.

The chemically treated multi-walled carbon nanotubes were added to the anode material of lead-acid batteries, made into electrodes, and the cycle characteristics under different charge and discharge current conditions were tested. The effect of carbon nanotubes on capacity, cycle life and activity was investigated The X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed the formation of PbO2 in the anode plate, and the addition of multi-walled carbon nanotubes in the anode plate can improve the utilization rate of active materials and effectively suppress the reduction of efficiency.
